چکیده

Recently, Todorov and Wilf independently realized that de Branges' original proof of the Bieberbach and Milin conjectures and the proof that was later given by Weinstein deal with the same special function system that de Branges had introduced in his work. In this article, we present an elementary proof of this statement based on the deen-ing diierential equations system rather than the closed representation of de Branges' function system. Our proof does neither use special functions (like Wilf's) nor the residue theorem (like Todorov's) nor the closed representation (like both), but is purely algebraic. On the other hand, by a similar algebraic treatment, the closed representation of de Branges' function system is derived. Our whole contribution can be looked at as the study of properties of the Koebe function. Therefore, in a very elementary manner it is shown that the known proofs of the Bieberbach and Milin conjectures can be understood as a consequence of the LL owner diierential equation, plus properties of the Koebe function.

A Helson-lowdenslager-de Branges Theorem in L

This paper presents a generalization of the invariant subspace theorem of Helson and Lowdenslager along the lines of de Branges’ generalization of Beurling’s theorem.

De Branges’ Theorem on Approximation Problems of Bernstein Type

The Bernstein approximation problem is to determine whether or not the space of all polynomials is dense in a given weighted C0-space on the real line. A theorem of de Branges characterizes non-density by existence of an entire function of Krein class being related with the weight in a certain way. An analogous result holds true for weighted sup-norm approximation by entire functions of exponen...

De Branges Functions of Schroedinger Equations

We characterize the Hermite-Biehler (de Branges) functions E which correspond to Shroedinger operators with L potential on the finite interval. From this characterization one can easily deduce a recent theorem by Horvath. We also obtain a result about location of resonances.

Inverse uniqueness results for Schrödinger operators using de Branges theory

We utilize the theory of de Branges spaces to show when certain Schrödinger operators with strongly singular potentials are uniquely determined by their associated spectral measure. The results are applied to obtain an inverse uniqueness theorem for perturbed spherical Schrödinger operators.

Spectral Perturbation Theory and the Two Weights Problem

The famous two weights problem consists in characterising all possible pairs of weights such that the Hardy projection is bounded between the corresponding weighted L spaces. Koosis’ theorem of 1980 gives a way to construct a certain class of pairs of weights. We show that Koosis’ theorem is closely related to (in fact, is a direct consequence of) a spectral perturbation model suggested by de B...
